About this piece

This piece was composed during the early months of the 2020 coronavirus pandemic, at a time when much of the world had come to a sudden halt. Conceived in the midst of uncertainty and solitude, the music became a quiet act of hope, offering a way to imagine and, in some sense, to celebrate the eventual return to normality. Its style is rooted in a late-Romantic, slightly cinematic aesthetic, with sweeping lines and rich harmonic textures that recall the sound worlds of Korngold and Richard Strauss. The result is both reflective and forward-looking, shaped by the stillness of the moment and the quiet anticipation of movement once again.

Première: 19/Nov/2022. Banda del Prat conducted by Carles Chordà. Auditori Cèntric, El Prat de Llobregat.

Average duration: 3 min. 50 sec.
